How to Pick Fresh Strawberries
- Always look for strawberries that look red and that is important because strawberries do not ripen after being picked like peaches and other fruits
- I always look through the strawberries and ensure that none of them are moldy or has any defects that would further spoil the rest of the strawberries
- Thirdly I look for strawberries that have fresh-looking and green leaves as it is an indication of the age of the strawberries. Older the strawberries less green leaves they are going to have
How to use Frozen Strawberries for Baking
- Let’s state the obvious, nothing beats the fresh strawberries or anything fresh vs their frozen counterpart. Just know that frozen fruit may look more collapsed than the fresh fruit itself, and may not look as “perfect” and who cares as long as it tastes good! right
- Remember it is always best to thaw the strawberries before using them in the recipe. So, that you don’t increase your cooking time
- Keep in mind that you may require additional ingredients or thickeners to compensate for the extra liquid in the frozen fruits
- My mom is a baking guru, who doesn’t thaw the frozen fruit for baking, instead heavily coats them well in the all-purpose flour, and this works really well in most baking
Ingredients for making the perfect soft homemade strawberry cheesecake cookies
- Butter – My favorite butter to use is from Pulgra extra creamy this can be easily purchased from Walmart or Costco. It’s not a must to use extra creamy butter, so use any regular butter that is available
- Strawberries – I enjoy using fresh strawberries from our local produce. If you are planning to use the frozen strawberries, here are some tips
- Cream Cheese – My favorite brand to use is the Philadelphia Cream Cheese it’s perfect for baking and for filling due to its high quality and gooey texture.
- White Sugar – I have listed the standard amount of sugar in the recipe, but personally, I always add less sugar (I will surely be adding a whole of healthy recipes that will have sugar alternatives)
